4th CORE Symposium 2014

Dear CORE Symposium Attendees,

on behalf of the Organization Committee, we want to thank you for attending the 4th CORE Symposium on Friday, 13th June at the ZMT. We greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to come out to express their views and to support the scientific discussions.

It was the first time that the CORE Symposium has been held at the ZMT in Bremen. The event was an overwhelming success, attracting 85 participants from more than 15 different institutions and provided great intellectual discussion and social interaction. Your presence helped to make this event a great success and your enthusiasm and positive spirit helped make our time together both productive and fun.

A special thank goes to the invited speakers, Dr. Guse, Prof. Polunin, Dr. Venn, Prof. Wiedenmann, and to our guest speaker Prof. Fabricius. Without your contribution, the symposium would not have been the success that it was. Thanks to all of you, our main scientific objective to generate novel scientific ideas and projects has certainly been successful.

The Symposium had a central focus on the field of coral reef ecology with specific topics ranging from ecosystem biodiversity and symbioses of organisms to impacts of local and global environmental change. The meeting was focused on promoting exchange among students, PhDs, Post-docs and researchers from different fields of coral reef ecology, sharing knowledge and experiences and establishing new collaborations.
